Our Methodology
Transparent metrics, evidence confidence and editorial independence.
01 · Evidence hierarchy
Reviewed independent test reports and verifiable certifications come first, then primary manufacturer documents, attributed secondary evidence, and clearly labelled unverified claims.
02 · Product-specific records
Formulation, flavour, pack size, manufacturing origin, ingredient origin and batch testing are kept separate. Two markets are never assumed to share a formula.
03 · Normalized value
Cost per 25 g protein = price ÷ (pack weight × declared protein fraction) × 25. We show the date, the seller, and whether nutrition came from a label or a test. The Best value ranking only includes products that are at least 60% protein, because a low-protein powder can look cheap per gram while much of each scoop is something else.
04 · Safety and scoring
A credible safety concern triggers a review gate, not a small score penalty. Missing evidence lowers confidence; it does not imply a product is unsafe.
05 · Independence
Affiliate revenue and sponsorship do not influence ratings. Ads, sponsored placements and affiliate links are labelled.
06 · Freshness and corrections
We track check dates, source URLs, label versions, price history, reviewer approvals and a history of material corrections.
Proposed score weights
These starting weights are a proposal under review, not a validated scientific rating. No published score uses them until the methodology is validated.
